Medicaid Benefits: We've Got You Covered!

Your Cardinal Care Medicaid health coverage offers many benefits and services. The complete list of benefits is located in your Member Handbook on your health plan's website. Your Member Handbook is a great tool to help answer many of your questions. The following are just a few of your covered Medicaid services:

Preventive Care is Important to Your Overall Health

Preventing disease is critical to helping you live a longer, healthier life. This type of regular care and check-ups is called preventive care.

Use Adult Preventive Services Today

Did you know that all adult Virginia Medicaid members have coverage for preventive services such as screenings, check-ups and counseling support? These services can help keep you healthy, and identify areas for improvement before they become an issue.

Know Your Basic Health Benefits

Your Virginia Medicaid coverage includes many basic health benefits. While some plans offer additional services, it’s important to know the benefits that are covered under any plan you choose.

Specialty Providers Are Available if You Need Them

Your primary care provider (PCP) will give you regular check-ups and cover your basic health care needs, including many preventive and wellness services.

Get the Prescriptions and Equipment You Need

When you visit your primary care provider (PCP), you may receive a prescription medication, if necessary. Prescriptions or scripts allow you to get the medicine or medical equipment that has been approved by your doctor.

Dental Health is Important to Overall Wellness

All Medicaid members with full benefits have access to dental services through their Medicaid coverage. During an appointment, your dentist or dental hygienist may clean your teeth, take X-rays and check your gums to understand your overall dental health.

Medicaid Covers Mental Health and Addiction Treatment

Mental illness and addiction affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Virginia Medicaid covers treatment to help members avoid a crisis, as well as services to support recovery.

Medicaid Covers Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services

Many people facing addiction can benefit from treatment. Medicaid covers addiction and recovery treatment services for members. Treatment options include outpatient and inpatient care, as well as medications shown by research to help people addicted to prescription drugs or other opioids.

Medicaid Offers New Behavioral Health Services for Youth

Keeping our youth healthy – both physically and mentally – is a top priority for us. That is why we recently expanded our coverage to add new behavioral health (or mental health) services for youth ages 11-18. These new services offer community-based programs and family support while keeping youth at home and in school.
