Important COVID-19 Vaccine Update: A Second Booster Dose is Available to Those 50 and Older
The FDA recently approved a second Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 booster shot for:
- People 50 and older
- People ages 12-49 with some long-term medical conditions (Please consult your doctor if you might be eligible.)
Virginians eligible for a 2nd booster dose should get their shot four months after their last booster dose. And — everyone 5 and older should complete their initial vaccinations!
Vaccines help protect against serious illness and hospital admissions from COVID-19. Vaccinated Virginians are 4 times less likely to get COVID than those who are unvaccinated.
Use Virginia’s vaccine finder tool to find a vaccine location near you. Many vaccine locations accept walk-ins and have evening and weekend hours, making it easy for you to get your shot. Medicaid also offers transportation if you need a ride.
The vaccine is free for all Virginians. Make sure you are safe by getting vaccinated today.
